Ryan - thanks bro! Please let us know next time you're in the area. We'd love to catch up. I've not heard of Castells, but I've taken courses with Searle, and found him to be a great lecturer... about himself. He assigns only his own books, and really doesn't introduce or teach the field (of whatever he's writing about). What of his are you reading? I think his stuff on intentionality is good. This admission of his is important, since he posits something other than just cold, hard material. He's still a naturalist, but once you allow for a substance other than the physical, it's just a slippery slope to the existence of immaterial soul/spirit.

But I'm no Searle expert. Tell me what you think of him...
